Warren Johnson

We lost one of the good guys this week. Warren Johnson, a long time Grand Forks lawyer in the States Attorney’s Office, died on Sunday. He was 73.
I met Warren twenty years ago when I first moved to Grand Forks. And he was one of those guys you liked to cross paths with because he was the happiest guy in the room. He seemingly always had a twinkle in his eye and a beer mug in his hand. And you would have never guessed he was a lawyer because he rarely spoke about it, even though he was a darn good one.
His love of UND sports was legendary. He once had his head painted green and white to resemble a basketball when the North Dakota women’s team made it to the Nationals. And in his spare time, he was a high school football referee.
I will miss his smile and his positive attitude along with his hearty laugh.
Warren Johnson was good people.
