Fargo Force Hockey

Scheels Arena, formerly known as The Urban Plains Center.

I recently took in a hockey game in Fargo at the Scheels Arena.  Formerly known as The Urban Plains Center, Scheels Arena is the home to the USHL’s Fargo Force.  It was the first time that I had actually sat and watched a game there.  And I was impressed… with the building, the team, and pretty much everything else, except for the crowd, which was on the smallish side.  There was decent use of video and replays, nice suites and wide concourses.  A very nice game-day experience.

I went to the game with “Jimmy From Accounting” and “CKuz.”  They are a couple of UND Hockey rubes and they sometimes need to get their hockey fix while living in the Fargo area.  A good time was had by all.  Special thanks to Summer Sidekick for getting us seats right behind the Lincoln Stars bench.

On a side-note, if you’re ever in the Horace area, check out a place called “Hooligans.”  I was concerned that it was going to be a soccer bar, with people drinking pints, rioting, and singing.  But it wasn’t.

  1. Tough crowd. Sounds like fun. Nothing like clearing off the river and lifting a few into the shins of the young cry babies!
